ADR discusses sanitation, lighting issues with CBC

Cantonment Board has procured 52 tractors, 46 dumpers for garbage collection

KARACHI:

A delegation of Association of Defence Residents (ADR) led by Humaira Khan and former Vice Chairman Aziz Suhrawardy called on Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) Executive Officer Muhammad Saleem Hassan Wattoo and discussed various issues.

The issues came under discussion included sanitation and street lights in the area. Executive Officer Wattoo told the delegation that the CBC has taken over the responsibility of cleaning from the contractors.

The CBC has procured 52 tractors and 46 dumpers for garbage collection while 15 more dumpers are being purchased. In addition, geo-tagging system has been launched to ensure the garbage collection while cameras have also been installed at the garbage collection points.

A control room has also been set up at the CBC headquarters to monitor all activities. Further, three garbage compactors are also being ordered to carry more garbage. Watoo said that the CBC's technical workshop has developed a beach cleaner for beach cleaning that will soon be seen at the Sea View.

The CBC has also ordered 3,000 LED lights for DHA's main highways to further improve the street lighting system. On this occasion, Humaira Khan lauded the performance of the CBC's executive officer while Aziz Suhrawardy expressed full confidence in the EO and assured all possible cooperation.
