CBC told to raze illegal structures in Delhi Colony

The court expresses annoyance over the CBC's failure to stop illegal construction in the area

The Sindh High Court directed the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) on Wednesday to raze illegal structures in Delhi Colony.

A two-member bench, comprising Justice Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi and Justice Rashida Asad, issued the directive at the hearing of a plea pertaining to the construction of high-rise buildings in Delhi Colony.

The court expressed annoyance over the CBC's failure to stop illegal construction in the area.

"Why hasn't any action been taken against illegal construction yet?" it inquired from the counsel for the CBC.

The court directed the CBC to raze illegal structure in the locality.

Contempt notices

The same bench issued contempt of court notices to the relevant mukhtiarkar, Latifabad SHO and other parties over their failure to restrict illegal constructions in Zafar Town graveyard, Ibrahim Hyderi, as directed by the court in 2020.

At the hearing of the plea pertaining to the illegal occupation of the graveyard land, the counsel for the petitioner told the court that land mafia intended to sell the occupied land to builders for construction.

Judicial orders for restricting illegal construction on the land were issued in January 2020, but they haven't been implemented, he decried, and moved the court to directed the relevant mukhtiarkar and SHO to take immediate action against land grabbers, end the illegal occupation of the graveyard land and submit a report.
