During the year 2021, almost 400 people died in more than 10,000 incidents of crime in Faisalabad district

Besides, the people of Faisalabad were deprived of 4,299 motorcycles, 188 cars and cash amounting to over Rs1.66 billion. 

Out of the total number of fatalities, 27 people died while 85 sustained injuries while resisting the robbers who had barged into their houses.

The number of houses robbed during the year was 257.

The crime rate in Faisalabad district increased immensely as compared to the preceding year.

A marked increase was registered in the cases of robberies and murders.

Meanwhile, 12 alleged bandits were killed and 37 sustained injuries in 45 police encounters. Three policemen were also injured in these encounters.

Out of the five towns of Faisalabad district, 99 people were murdered in the Iqbal Town division; 85 each in Madina Town and Jaranwala divisions; 75 killed in Sadar Division; and 28 in Lyallpur Division.

Over 300 cases of abuse of women and 117 cases of child molestation were registered in the district. Forty-five cases of police encounters were also registered in which 12 alleged bandits were shot dead. Three policemen were also injured in the encounters.

Twelve cases of terrorism, 633 of burglary, 738 of cattle theft and 2339 cases of general theft were registered within the limits of different police stations.

Fifty-seven cases of extortion and 338 cases of one-wheeling were registered by the police and the accused were sent to jails.

Out of the over Rs1.66 billion that the people of Faisalabad had been deprived of during the year, police managed to recover Rs680 million from the culprits and returned it to those it belonged.

Four people, including three children, were killed while resisting rape attempts. Five cases of gang-rape, 117 cases of child abuse, 75 cases of abduction of minors, 255 cases of abduction of men and women and 876 cases of abduction for rape were also registered.

During the year 2021, two CPOs of Faisalabad district were transferred.

Incumbent CPO Ghulam Mubashir Mekan has given a clear strategy to his subordinates to curb the rising crime in Faisalabad district after taking charge of his post due to which the rising crime rate in the city is being controlled.

The CPO has organized open Katcheries (public forums) in the areas of various rural police stations.

In addition, the CPO has issued orders to all town SPs and DSPs to set up open courts within the limits of their respective police stations.
