Sindh CM calls for improving product quality

Stresses modern trends of digital economy should be followed to compete in global market

LAHORE:

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has underscored the urgent need for promoting Pakistani brands in global markets and making significant improvement in the quality of products at par with international standards to attract foreign buyers.

Talking to a delegation of the United Business Group at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Thursday, the CM underlined the importance of adopting modern trends of digital economy to compete in the global market.

He pointed out that the entire world was switching over to that mechanism at a rapid pace.

“Industrialisation plays a critical role in the economic development of underdeveloped countries,” he said. “It also allows them to make optimal use of scarce resources, which increases the quantity and quality of products and contributes to the gross national product (GNP).”

He said that industrialisation had always been instrumental in the economic development of the world as it enhanced the supply of goods for internal and external markets.

Shah underlined that the government of Sindh attached huge importance to agro-based industries because they had the potential to offset the global food insecurity threat.

“Agro-based industrialisation plays a strategic role in economy and aids in poverty alleviation besides creating job opportunities for the unemployed youth,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, delegation leader Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig pointed to the foreign investment being made in the province.

He recalled that the government of Sindh had recently conducted the Sindh Investment Conference in Dubai, which was also attended by the members of the UAE royal family.

Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Iftikhar Ali Malik praised the provincial government for endorsing the policy of industrialisation and taking the stakeholders into confidence.

He hoped that the policy and consultations with the business community would help strengthen the national economy. He was of the view that all problems confronting the businessmen would be resolved on top priority.
