A TV anchor in New Zealand has made history by becoming the first-ever journalist to appear in a news session with a face tattoo.
Oriini Kaipara is reported to have a traditional lower chin tattoo, akin to Māori women, known as 'moko kauae'.
It was on Monday that Kaipara went on air to read her usual news bulletin, hosted by Sam Hayes and Mike McRoberts, Times Now reported.
Following the bulletin, the 37-year-old said she had managed to achieve a 'lifelong dream', hoping she had set the trend for other aspiring journalist women from the Maori community.

"I'm not speechless, but it's a buzz, Kaipara, mother-of-four, expressed while talking to Stuff. "I am proud of how far I've come in being able to anchor 6 pm right now. It's definitely a step forward, and a step-up."
"If there was a goal for me, it would be anchoring prime time news, and that's happened," she added.
Speaking about her newsroom experience, Kaipara said: "We've got a good team at Newshub, I don't feel the pressure as much as I used to when I first started out in journalism. But that comes with doing the hard yards, and then actually realising it and doing it is really exciting,"
The young anchor discovered four years ago that she was 100 per cent Māori, of he Tuhoe, Ngati Awa, Tuwharetoa, and Te Arawa descent. Soon after, she got herself a 'moko kauae'.
