Army chief inaugurates flyover

Ammar Chowk remodelling and extension project cost Rs1.3 billion

RAWALPINDI:

Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday inaugurated the Ammar Chowk flyover.

The Ammar Shaheed Chowk remodelling and extension project was inaugurated three days ahead of the scheduled time.

Rawalpindi Division Commissioner Gulzar Hussain Shah, RDA Chairman Tariq Murtaza, MNA and PTI Additional Secretary-General Amir Mahmood Kayani, Federal Parliamentary Secretary Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, Provincial Parliamentary Secretary Chaudhry Adnan, MPA Haji Amjad, Chaklala Cantonment Board and FWO officials and the station commander were also present.

Captain Shaheed Ammar's mother was also present at the inaugural ceremony accompanied by two models of the flyover. One model was to be presented to the mother of the martyred captain, while the other to the army chief.

However, the army chief suggested giving the model to Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, the MNA of the constituency. Sheikh Rashid Shafiq was presented with one model of Ammar Chowk.

Gen Bajwa also thanked the Punjab government and Provincial Parliamentary Secretary Chaudhry Adnan for providing funds for the project. The army chief said that the FWO has maintained its tradition by diligently completing the project on time.
