Minister says govt making efforts to facilitate freelancers

The youth of the country’s is an asset and equipping it with digital skills is the need of the hour, stressed Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Aminul Haque.

Speaking at a launch ceremony of DigiSkills 2.0 programme on Monday, the minister revealed that Pakistan was the fourth fastest growing country in the world, in terms of freelancers and their earnings.

He underlined that the government was striving hard to extend full support to the freelancers.

“The government is working to promote ease of doing business, bank account opening, bringing in foreign remittances and seamless internet connectivity across the country,” he added.

Appreciating the results of DigiSkills, he underlined that the programme had played a commendable role in equipping emerging/ existing freelancers with knowledge, skills and tools necessary to seize globally opportunities in online freelancing marketplaces.

“Strong measures are being taken to increase IT exports,” he underlined, adding that women empowerment was of prime importance for the ministry. IT Secretary Sohail Rajput was of the view that after the success of the first phase of DigiSkills, the second phase would be an important milestone.
