Foolproof security ordered for 2nd phase of LG elections

Incidents of violence that happened during the first phase of elections should not happen again

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Saturday ordered foolproof security for the second phase of local bodies elections in the province and said that the incidents of violence that happened during the first phase of elections should not happen again.

During a meeting with Chief Secretary Shahzad Bangash and Inspector General of Police, Muazzam Jah Ansari he was thoroughly briefed about the matters related to the peaceful holding of upcoming local bodies polls in the remaining 18 districts of the province.

He was also briefed about the incidents of violence that took place in certain places during the first phase of the elections and a broader strategy to avoid such incidents in the upcoming second phase was also discussed.

Talking on this occasion, the Chief Minister said that overall the first phase of the local bodies polls was held smoothly in a peaceful environment, however few untoward incidents took place in certain places, and added that such incidents should not take place anywhere during the second phase.

He ordered necessary arrangements and preparations should be started and finalized in all respects well before the polling, adding that to put in place an effective mechanism of coordination amongst the concerned district administrations, police, election commission and other relevant stakeholders to ensure smooth, transparent and peaceful holding of the elections.
