Chinese platform launches Pakistan’s National Pavilion

Scheme to promote local products in China, boost bilateral trade

BEIJING:

Pakistan’s Online National Pavilion has opened on China’s leading e-commerce platform JD.com (Jingdong) to enhance Pakistani high-quality products in China and promote bilateral trade. The inauguration ceremony for Pakistan’s National Pavilion at JD.com was held on Friday at Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing, where Ambassador of Pakistan to China Moinul Haque inaugurated the country’s first online national pavilion in China.

While thanking Prestige International for setting up Pakistan’s online pavilion, Ambassador Haque said that in view of growing trade and business ties between the two sides, the national pavilion would prove to be a useful platform to Pakistani and Chinese traders to promote Pakistan’s high-quality products through China’s huge online market. Haque further said that while the pavilion would serve as a starting point in further exploring excellent opportunities offered by the Chinese digital economy, it would also complement the efforts of Pakistan’s offline pavilions which have already been in active operation in various cities of China including Chengdu, Kunming, Urumqi, Yiwu, and Zhengzhou. Moreover, this pavilion would also provide a window for promoting Pakistan’s culture, cuisine, tourism, and people-topeople exchanges.

“We are working to establish another offline Pakistan pavilion in Beijing, and we are on the path to achieve historic figures this year in overall bilateral trade,” he said. “We hope this year our bilateral trade will be $24 billion, which is the highest figure ever and our export to China will be around $3.4 billion, which is also a historic figure,” he added. Prestige International Director of the international department Tony Meng said that his company was establishing an application both in English and Chinese that would help Pakistani enterprises to get knowledge about the Chinese market and make their business operations smooth.
