Mercury dips to single digit in port city
The city temperature was recorded at nine degrees Celsius for the second consecutive day on Sunday. Residents of the port city accustomed to mild climate were left shivering.
Many headed to soup stalls and tea shops to enjoy the rare cold weather in the otherwise hot and humid city. The effects of northern winds in Balochistan are likely to subside from today (Monday) afternoon.
The city recorded at least nine degrees Celsius on Sunday due to which the weather remained dry and cold in the morning. It was sunny during the day but the northeast winds continued to blow at a speed of 18km per hour.

The weather is expected to remain cold and dry today (Monday), according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s Early Warning Center. Today’s minimum temperature is expected to be between 10 and 12 degrees Celsius. However, the mercury may rise on Tuesday to 14 and 16 degrees Celsius.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), southwesterly winds may blow in the city on Tuesday instead of northeast winds. Meanwhile, PMD has forecast cold and dry weather in most districts of Sindh during the next 24 hours. However, fog is likely to prevail over Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Shaheed Benazirabad, Mohenjodharo and surroundings in night.
