Child dies while playing with father’s gun

Firearms experts suggest many precautions for gun-keeping

A nine-year-old boy was killed by an accidental gunshot while playing with his father's gun on Saturday.

Reportedly, Muzaffar Iqbal, a resident of 75GB area in the jurisdiction of Saddar police station, left his licensed gun under his bed and went to his workplace.

Meanwhile, his nine-year-old son Obaidullah picked up the gun from under his bed and started playing with it. Suddenly, the nine-year-old kid shot himself while playing. Consequently, he was severely injured.

The child was rushed to Allied Hospital where he died after struggling for his life.

SHO Sadar Asim Rashid reached the spot, took the body into custody for legal formalities and handed it over to the family afterwards. The police also registered the report of accidental death.

Firearms experts suggest many precautions for gun-keeping because guns claim life. These are very basics fundamentals of gun-keeping protocols, lest set aside the debate of licensed and illegal weapon.
