Mianwali DC briefed on planned facilities, pace of work

Work on the 50-acre Kundian Forest Park project in Mianwali district is under way in full swing.

District Forest Officer (DFO) Malik Saqib Mehmood Awan said while briefing Deputy Commissioner Khurram Shehzad on the project that completion of work on the park at a cost of more than Rs170 million would provide the best recreational facilities not only to the people of Mianwali but also to visitors from surrounding districts.

He said the park would have a lawn on an area of 10 acres, a botanical garden on 10 acres, a wooded area on 20 acres and a rose and jasmine garden on one acre.

The official said the park would have 40 planters, four huts for visitors, one for inspection staff, a food court, residential quarters for a forest guard and a watchman, an information centre, a history museum, four tuck shops and five picnic sheds.

He said boundary walls, walkways and jogging tracks were part of the project along with a 15,000-square-foot parking area.

The DFO said the Kundian Forest Park was being built on a total area of 50 acres and would be completed in two years.

The deputy commissioner said the pace of the physical work and funds utilisation for the project should be maintained.

He said effective mechanisms should be devised for monitoring the construction work and no compromise should be made on its quality.
