Two suspects arrested in DHA robbery case

Driver, watchman, accomplices had hauled away gold, cash, watches, cell phones in the SUV of homeowner

Police investigators claimed to have arrested two suspects who allegedly robbed a house in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) earlier this month.

The robbery, allegedly committed by the driver and the cook employed at the home, had become a challenge for the investigators, officials said. Investigation One South Zone police team traced the suspects with the help of questioning from the other household helps employed in the area.

A resident Irfan Ali on December 5 lodged a report with Gizri Police Station stating that his mother was alone at home situated on Khayaban-e-Rahat in DHA Phase VII when robbers broke into the house. They blindfolded her mother and looted gold jewellery, cash, valuable watches, and other belongings worth millions of rupees and fled. The suspects hauled away the valuables in the SUV of the homeowner.

According to the plaintiff, his mother claimed that driver Allahditta and watchman Usman were involved in the incident. The two committed the robbery with the help of their accomplices.

The plaintiff alleged that robbers took away 23 valuable watches, four gold chains, Rs2.7 million in cash, a laptop, tablet, licenced pistol along with the licence, five gold sets from the rooms on the ground floor while his brother's family lives on the first floor, and from where the accused took away Rs2 million in cash, 100 gold earrings, 12 pendants, bracelets, 10 gold chains, 52 gold rings, two gold teeka, 10 gold nose pins, 48 gold bangles, four pendant gold sets, mobile phones and three gold chains.

On the report, the investigation police launched a probe and on the information received from undercover sources, two accused involved in the incident, Muhammad Omar and Anil were arrested.

Police recovered gold jewellery, watches and two pistols from the suspects.

However, the driver and watchman named in the case are still absconding and police are trying to arrest them.

Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of police has claimed to have arrested four members involved in supplying drugs in posh localities of metropolis.

SIU SSP Arif Aziz said that the suspects Mazhar, Anwar, Abdul Malik and Farman were allegedly supplying drugs on call at homes and offices in Clifton and DHA areas.

The accused were also involved in stealing motorcycles. The SIU officials recovered 7.7kgs of hashish and a stolen motorcycle from the suspects.

During preliminary investigations the suspects confessed that they buy drugs from the Hub city of Balochistan and supply to clients in Clifton and DHA.
