KARACHI:

The Constitution of Pakistan states that the province which produces gas has the first right to meet its demand before giving the surplus to other provinces, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said on Thursday.

He was leading a sit-in in Larkana against gasa supply outages in Sindh, which produces highest quantity of natural gas in the country.

He blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's government for violating the constitution by denying Sindh its rightful share of gas.

Addressing the protesters, he asked them to get ready to fill the jails in the country as they have to spearhead a movement to get rid of Prime Minister Imran Khan's government.

"If the movement to fill jails is started, all leaders of PPP and workers will be ready to go to jails," he warned. He lamented that the province which is producing large quantity of gas and is supplying it other provinces as well is being deprived of its due share of gas.

He blamed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's government for violating the constitution by denying Sindh its rightful share of gas.

Khuhro said not only the residential consumers but the commercial and industrial ones were also suffering heavy financial losses due to the gas crisis. He deplored that the PM's special assistant Arbab Ghulam Rahim has begun to support the governor rule in Sindh. The PPP's leader argued that the PTI cannot tolerate to see his party's government in Sindh.

Khuhro told the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan's leadership that their dream of dividing Sindh in two provinces will die but the province will remain one. He said the Indian immigrants who settled in East Punjab call themselves Punjabis but many of those who came to Sindh still called themselves Muhajirs.
