QUETTA:

The Balochistan chapter of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Friday staged protests and rallies against inflation across the province on the directives of the party’s chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari.

The provincial leaders of the party expressed anger over the "failed economic policies" of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government and the taxes imposed under the government’s deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on essential commodities.

PPP Balochistan Secretary-General Rozi Khan Kakar, Sardar Buland Jogezai and other leaders addressed the participants of the protest rally from Sariab to Quetta Press Club in the provincial capital Quetta.

The protesters said that the country had been lashed by a “storm of inflation” due to the “incompetence” of the ruling party, adding further impositions of the taxes was worsening the situation.

They lamented that Balochistan was being kept deprived of gas despite the fact that it was the province that the country largely relied on for gas.

Meanwhile, protests were held also against inflation in other districts of the province, including Pishin Chaman and usta Muhammad and Naseerabad.

Last week, the PPP held a large public demonstration outside Karachi’s Empress Market of Saddar area to protest against the issues of inflation, unemployment, and hike in the prices of gas, electricity, petrol, and other essential commodities in the country.

The PPP organised the protest demonstration on the direction of the party's Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari who had called for agitation all over the country to protest against the incompetence of the present federal government in overcoming major public issues.

The PPP leaders who addressed the participants of the protest demonstration said that their party had launched an agitation drive under the leadership of the PPP Chairman to get rid of the present government that had caused immense miseries to people in the country.
