Funding scrutiny: TLP urges ECP to reject PTI plea
The TLP has submitted its reply with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the party funding sources case requesting it to cancel ruling PTI’s request on the matter.
On Sunday, the PTI government had called upon the ECP to simultaneously scrutinise the funding sources of three major political parties of the country — PTI, PML-N and PPP — and make them public.
The ruling party urged the election supervisor to do the same for the TLP, JI and JUI-F in the second phase.
A two-member bench of the ECP heard the case.

In its response, the TLP maintained that the request of the PTI was inadmissible. It urged the ECP to reject the application after imposing a “heavy penalty” on the ruling party.
The TLP observed that according to law, the audit of accounts is carried out by a registered chartered accountant firm. It further said that the PTI’s plea was “misleading” and based on “lie”.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till January 19.
