500 families to receive poultry sets next year

Poultry sets will be distributed in all 36 districts of Punjab

RAWALPINDI:

The regular provision of poultry to 500 families starting early January under the Prime Minister's Poultry Farming Project has been approved.

Each family will receive a set of five chickens and one rooster, with the whole set costing Rs1,130. Originally priced at Rs1,050 each, these sets will be provided to designated households every month

These poultry sets will be distributed in all 36 districts of Punjab under the auspices of the Poultry Research Institute, where staff raises these chickens and roosters on a self-reliant basis. None of the poultry species have been bought from the open market.

The Poultry Research Institute has large poultry farms in 12 districts of Punjab; namely Rawalpindi, Attock, Dina, Jhelum, Gujarat, Sargodha, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Bhakkar.

The staff at these farms works day and night to raise the poultry with care on a large scale under the supervision of poultry research instructors and doctors.
