7 days and counting, no end in sight to doctors’ protest

Agitated nurses also continue demonstration for 11th day

The protest of young doctors from all over Sindh, including Karachi, entered its seventh day.

Some of the demands included include making doctors working towards Corona elimination permanent, increasing the salaries and risk allowances of house officers as well as host graduates.

The Sindh Health Department has accepted the demand to meet the shortage of doctors in hospitals. The protesting doctors announced to continue the protest till the other demands are approved.

The protesting doctors boycotted OPDs for the fifth day in different hospitals of Sindh, including Karachi, and gathered at hospitals to chant slogans in support of the demands. The protesting doctors said that Sindh Health Department has accepted one of our demands to meet the shortage of doctors in hospitals which was the most important one.

"We are happy that our demand has been taken seriously, but others are still not accepted. Until all demands are met, we will continue to protest in hospitals and boycott OPDs," one of them said.

Nurses protest enters 11th day

Nurses' protests all over the province entered the 11th day at the Karachi Press Club.

"We will continue to protest at the Karachi Press Club until all the demands are approved and a notification is issued," one of them said, "The demand for the provision of health and risk allowance, increase in stipends, implementation of deputation policy should also be accepted immediately and a notification should be issued."

The protesting nurses announced to continue the protest till the notification of the approval of all their demands was issued by the Sindh Health Department.

Nurses from all over the province, including Karachi, protested at the Karachi Press Club on the 11th day. They carried placards and chanted slogans in support of their demands.

On this occasion, the nurses said that the Sindh Health Department had accepted their demand to implement one of the service structures, while other demands were still not accepted.

"We have clearly told the Sindh Health Department that as long as the department delays the approval of the demands, we will continue the protest," said another nurse.
