ABBOTABAD:

In a drive against encroachment, the district administration demolished a multi-story building at Havelian Interchange.

Revenue officials from the National Highways Authority (NHA), and police personnel were also present on the occasion.

During the anti-encroachment operation, action was taken against the illegal occupation of NHA lands adjacent to the Havelian interchange at Hazara Motorway.

The Hazara Division NHA Deputy Director said, “The operation was carried out after fulfilling all legal requirements.” He said that the organisation had already served notices to people who were protesting against the operation. He further said that all legal requirements had been fulfilled by the NHA Revenue Department, and they had documented records of notices issued by the entity. The official said that all affected individuals had also been compensated against their property, which was acquired for the motorway.

However, he said, several elements had tried to overturn progress made by state authorities. Previously, after the demolition of the building, a protest was organised at Havelian Interchange against Abbottabad Assistant Commissioner (AC) and NHA officials.

The owner of the building and his supporters protested against the AC and other officials concerned.
