Servants rob over 15m valuables from DHA house

Decamp with cash, jewelry, watches, and weapons in homeowner’s SUV

In a stark warning of hiring only trustworthy domestic help, servants deprived a family of over Rs15 million worth of cash and valuables at a house in the upscale locality of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA). According to police, two servants of the house on the Khyaban-e-Rahat in Phase VII DHA overpowered the lady of the house, when she was alone at home.

They tied her up, then collected the valuables at their ease. As per the complainant, the help they had hired to clean the house took away jewelry worth around Rs10 million, Rs5 million cash, precious watches, cell phones and other valuables. They also took away an automatic rifle, and a pistol. The suspects hauled all the booty in the double-cabin SUV of the family and drove off.

"The double-cabin vehicle was recovered from the highway," police officials said. The family was settled overseas, police said. Police further inquiring into the heist. Police have repeatedly advised citizens to register their home servants at the precinct to avoid any untoward incident. In a recent robbery at a traffic signal of Sunset Boulevard in DHA, the victim family in a car and the alleged robbers exchanged fire which resulted injuries to scores of people including a passerby.

The robbers attempted to rob the car which was stopped at red signal, as soon as the suspects tried to flee from the scene the man in the car opened fire from a gun at them injuring at least one. The injured suspect was caught by the police, who also recovered the looted valuables from them, while another robber on the bike fled from the scene.
