YDA to decide ‘future course of action’ today
Young Doctors Association (YDA) Balochistan has said that 19 arrested doctors have not been released despite the passage of seven days as the government justifies demands of the YDA but is not willing to implement it.
“If young doctors are called bullies and anti-state then they will definitely take to the streets to record their protest. On Monday, the general body of YDA has been convened to decide future course of action,” said Chairman Action Committee, YDA Dr Hafeez Mandokhail, during a press conference. He was accompanied by Dr Mudassar Nawaz, President YDA Punjab, Dr Faiz Achakzai, YDA Islamabad, Dr Kaleem YDA Sindh, Dr Bihar Shah YDA Gilgit-Baltistan and others. Dr Hafeez Mandokhel said that 19 doctors had been on hunger strike for seven days inside their cell in the prison who were arrested for demanding better facilities in hospitals across the province.
He said that a meeting of the general body of the young doctors had been called on Monday in which they will decide the future course of action.
Hafeez claimed that the government and the opposition both have failed to present a clear solution to their problems and the hospital administration is also under pressure as its officials are being reshuffled frequently by the health department.
He said that the people are suffering due to lack of facilities at hospitals.
