Track, trace system to check hoarders
The track and trace policy will not only help in discouraging hoarders but it will also generate more revenue and eliminate the crisis of goods, said Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Director Intelligence Abdul Rehman Rind.
Speaking at a seminar, organised by Hyderabad SITE Association of Trade and Industry on Saturday, Rind revealed that implementation of the system had started.
“Stickers and bar codes are being pasted on sugar bags in the premises of sugar mills,” he added.
Moreover, he urged mill owners to support FBR’s efforts by ensuring that stickers/ bar codes were pasted on their products in order to protect their business interests.
“FBR is ready to extend full support to all stakeholders in this regard,” he maintained.
On the occasion, SITE Association’s Sub-committee on FBR Chairman Daulat Ram Lohana proposed that the track and trace process should be completed within the premises of factories, so that small traders and purchasers could undertake their activities without any fear.
Giving his opinion, former association chairman Parvez Faheem Noorwala suggested printing market retail prices on sugar bags while another ex-chairman said that used bags should also be included in the policy in order to avert misappropriation at the lower level in markets.
Appreciating the efforts of FBR, association Chairman Saman Mal Devnani underlined that such informative seminars would help businessmen understand tax affairs and would also “create a fearless atmosphere for taxpayers”.
Among others, former chairpersons of the association and members of executive committee were also present on the occasion.
