Call to end smear campaign against Pakistan

Writer says false allegations of instigating genocide tarnish Pakistan’s international image, stain history

KARACHI:

Pakistan needs to take a stand against the injustice and illegality of the War Crime Tribunals and the War Crimes Denial Act, said National Management Consultants (NMC) Chairman Dr Junaid Ahmad.

While chairing a seminar on Thursday NMC chairman said that the creation of Bangladesh is the most tragic episode of Pakistan’s history, invoking the feelings of loss of not just a geographical territory but of family, integrity, trust, honour, and identity.

“Why nobody attends any allegations and accusations on Pakistan? Why Pakistani media fails to handle the allegations leaving a negative image of Pakistan?” he questioned the government and media.

“It is an unhealed wound which bleeds tears not only of loss and remorse but of frustration and grief on the undeserved accusations,” said added.

He stated that it is Pakistan’s misfortune that untrue, baseless propaganda of the friendly and antagonistic stakeholders in the creation of Bangladesh tarnishes Pakistan’s international image and stains history with false allegations of instigating genocide.

Ahmad introduced his book Creation of Bangladesh: Myths Exploded to the audience. The book discusses events that led to East Pakistan becoming Bangladesh in 1971.

He claimed that misunderstandings and cover-ups that mislead historians to unjustifiably labelling Pakistan as the perpetrator of the horrifying atrocities committed against the Bengalis during events that led to the creation of Bangladesh forced him to become a historian and also the reasons to write this book.

“The book reveals the real facts behind the loss of East Pakistan and the creation of Bangladesh. It sheds light on the conspiracies, misadventures, and failings, also those whose actions culminated into the calamity of the demise of East Pakistan,” Claimed Junaid Ahmad.

He also highlighted that the trade relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan were three times more than Bangladesh and India.

The hate relationship between Bangladesh and Pakistan never existed and that it was India’s propaganda, India promoted 13 myths (mentioned in his book) to provoke hate between the two countries. India took advantage of the scenario and succeeded.

“We don’t hate each other instead it is imposed on us by other parties (India),” said the NMC chairman.

NMC chairman said that we should learn from Germany and France on how to overcome hatred after the war and adopt strategies from those countries like sending students to spend time in both countries (Germany and France) in order to overcome hatred. He said it is time to foster relationships with Bangladesh, “we can work closely together to improve, there is a huge potential for enhancing bilateral trade between the two countries.”

Bangladeshi exports to Pakistan include jute goods, tea, and newsprint.

Media in this regard can play an important role to improve relations.

The purpose of the book is to highlight the role of India in the separation of Pakistan and Bangladesh, India’s grand strategy for dismember of Pakistan and its involvement in Pakistan, provoking Bengalis and making them dream of Bangladesh. “We also need to resolve the matter of shifting Biharis to Pakistan.”

Brigadier (retd) Tariq Khalil appreciated the book while speaking on the occasion and said that he is part of the book, part of the separation process, civil war, POW camps, and all the saga narrated by Dr Junaid Ahmad.

Mazhar Abbas, different media personnel, faculty, and students of DHA Suffa University were amongst the attendees of the seminar.
