SHC seeks govt reply on LCI plots dispute

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed the Deputy Advocate General to submit a comprehensive reply to the petition regarding the dispute on 2,300 plots of Landhi Cottage Industry (LCI).
A two-member bench comprising Justice Zafar Ahmed Rajput and Justice Muhammad Faisal Kamal Alam heard the petition.
The court expressed indignation over cancellation of plots after allotment and lack of seriousness in the matter. Justice Alam remarked that the country's economy was already undergoing a difficult phase.
The petitioners said that the revenue department gave the land to the KMC in 1993. The petitioners' counsel said that the KMC allotted the land to the petitioners after payment of the dues. "In 1996, the revenue department cancelled the allotment and we were not even given a replacement," the petitioners contended.

Justice Rajput remarked, "How can the revenue department do that?"
The court remarked that at the next hearing, all the parties should submit a comprehensive reply, directing the deputy advocate general to submit a comprehensive reply.
Meanwhile, a two-member bench of the Sindh High Court headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto granted protective bail to Agha Siraj Durrani and others for 10 days in a NAB inquiry into illegal appointments at Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Medical University, Lyari.
