IT University to be set up at Punjab House

The preparations for the establishment of new Information Technology (IT) University at Punjab House, Rawalpindi have started.
A delegation visited the Punjab House and declared it fit for its conversion to a university. The educational institution will be established at the beginning of the new year, and the government has initially allocated Rs150 million for the project. The funds will be provided by the Punjab Government, and the MNA fund of Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed.
The Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar will lay the foundation of the varsity in the first quarter of 2022. The new IT university will increase the number of universities in Rawalpindi city to five, and seven in the district. Federal Parliamentary Secretary Sheikh Rashid Shafique said the institution will be a gift by the Lal Haveli for the youth of Rawalpindi.
He said 15,000 new admission opportunities for female students were created with the establishment of Fatima Jinnah, Satellite Town, and Waqarun Nisa Universities. The official said the capacity will increase to 20,000 once the IT university is established.
