Bid to loot cash from ATM foiled
Three men who had been arrested while trying to allegedly loot cash from an ATM machine in the Mumtazabad police station area belonged to an inter-district group, it has been revealed.
They were said to be involved in cases of robberies across Punjab, including Multan, Sahiwal, Lahore, Gujranwala, Dera Ghazi Khan, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.
Teams had been formed to arrest accomplices of the accused, said police sources. These arrests were expected in the next 48 hours, they added.
According to the police, accused Tauseef, Usman and Raheel were arrested on Saturday night while trying to loot cash from an ATM machine in the Mumtazabad police station area.
They were said to be residents of Gujrat and Okara.
They belonged to an inter-district gang who used to hack ATM machines all over Punjab and steal money from them.
The accused have allegedly confessed to have committed dozens of crimes, police said.
Further revelations are expected during the investigation. Teams have also been formed by SP of Cantt, Hassan Afzal, for further investigations and arrests.
It is to be noted that on Saturday night, the police received a call on 15 that three people had been trying to rob an ATM machine of its cash on Vehari Road.
Police and Dolphin teams arrived on the scene and arrested three people, Tauseef, a resident of Gujrat, Usman, also a resident of Gujrat, and Raheel, a resident of Okara.
