ECNEC approves new health initiative
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) has approved the flagship project of the Punjab government, Universal Health Insurance (UHI) program.
The ECNEC gave this approval of UHI programme in its meeting chaired by Prime Minister’s Adviser on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tareen on Wednesday in Islamabad.
The meeting was attended amongst others by Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Jahanzeb Khan, Punjab Planning and Development Chairman Abdullah Sumbal, Secretary Specialized Healthcare Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi and Additional Secretary Development Dr Asif Tufail.
Secretary Specialized Healthcare said that the UHI is a vital and flagship project of the Punjab government that would benefit to the entire population of the province in terms of modern healthcare.
Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi said that the UHI Program would provide modern and latest medical facilities free of cost to 29.3 million families of Punjab.
He maintained that the Punjab government is determined to provide all-out resources in terms of healthcare to the public.
