PTI leader, brother beaten up by ex’s associates

She has lodged a case against her former husband and other nominated suspects

The Malir City police have registered a case on the complaint of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Laila Parveen for subjecting the PTI leader and her brother to torture, intimidation at gunpoint, rioting and other provisions.

Laila has lodged a case against her former husband and other nominated suspects under sections 147, 148, 149, 354, 506B, 109, 427, 509, 337A(i) and 337F(ii) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

"My former husband had taken a loan of Rs6.5 million from my brother Mushtaq Iqbal Khan and in this regard Ali Hasnain gave him a cheque of same amount to my brother which bounced. My brother lodged a case under section 489F of PPC against Ali Hasnain at Site Super Highway police station and on November 21, the police arrested the accused," the statement read.

She said, on November 22 the investigating officer brought him to the Malir Court and she also reached the court along with her brother Mushtaq Iqbal. "Advocates Saeed Shehzad and Nasrullah, at the behest of Ali Hasnain, brandishing a pistol issued me death threats and asked me not to pursue the case. On my refusal Saeed Shehzad, Nasrullah, Akbar, Muhammad Ali, Atif, Mir Mukhtiar, Junaid and 20-25 other unknown suspects started beating me and my brother and kept dragging me by my hair," she said in the statement.

"Due to beating, I suffered injuries on my face, head, right eye, right ear and middle toe of my right foot and also internal injuries while my brother also suffered internal injuries. During the torture my gold chain and bracelet also fell somewhere," she added.
