19 stalls burnt to ashes at Sasta Bazaar
At least 19 stalls were burnt to ashes after a fire broke out in Sasta Bazaar near Peshawar Road in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
Rescue 1122 firefighters put out the fire after a struggle of almost one hour.
Rescue officials said that a stall caught the fire during the welding work at a stall and the blaze spread to other stalls.
The fire was so intense that flames and smoke could be seen hovering in the sky from a long distance.
Rescue 1122 officials said that many stalls of clothes were burnt to ashes by the fire.
The IESCO cut off the power supply of the area after receiving information about the fire. Rescue 1122 spokesperson said six fire tenders, three rescue vehicles, and two ambulances took part in the fire extinguishing operation. No casualty was reported in the incident and the loss of the traders was being determined.
Rescue 1122 officials said the traders were handed over burnt stalls after the cooling process.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday sought a report from Commissioner Rawalpindi division about a fire incident at Sasta Bazaar Rawalpindi.
According to a news release, the chief minister directed the administration to investigate the incident and submit a report about the losses.
