Police seize weapons, stolen money from possession of deceased

OKARA:

A shop selling electronic goods within the limits of Hujra Shah Muqeem police station was allegedly robbed in broad daylight.

The alleged robbers were fleeing after “looting” more than Rs100,000 when one “robber” was killed on the spot while another escaped.

According to police sources, two alleged robbers entered the electronics shop on the Circular Road in Hujra Shah Muqeem and were “fleeing after looting more than Rs100,000 at gunpoint” when the shopkeeper opened fire on the robbers.

As a result, one “robber” was killed and another escaped.

A heavy contingent of police arrived on the spot and cordoned off the area to mount a search for the “escaped dacoit”.

Police seized heavy weapons, stolen money and a mobile phone from the dead robber and started further investigation.

Police have shifted the body of the slain robber to a nearby hospital for autopsy.

Taking note of the incident, DPO Faisal Gulzar directed the DSP to immediately investigate into the incident and arrest the “fugitive robber”.

Just a week ago, an incident of robbery in Okara had taken a very ugly turn when the robbers also raped a resident of the house they had robbed.

The robbers fled the house after looting gold jewellery worth millions of rupees, some precious items and motorcycles.
