More witnesses called in couple’s harassment case

10 out of 11 witnesses cross-examined as the prosecution seeks inclusion of more

ISLAMABAD:

The prosecution has filed a new petition to include four new witnesses in the case related to the harassment of a boy and a girl in an apartment in Sector E-11 of Islamabad.

Additional Sessions Judge Atta Rabbani will decide on the petition at the next hearing. The judge has summoned more witnesses to testify in the case on November 25.

Public Prosecutor Hasan Abas requested the court to summon four witnesses who have not been included in the previous list.

They are Sub-Inspector Muhammad Khan, who brought a USB parcel from the Punjab Forensic Laboratory, its receiver Head Constable Kashif Hayat, FIA Deputy Director Forensics Masood Ali, who prepared three forensic reports and FIA technical assistant Aneesur Rehman, who prepared a report regarding Twitter trends on Usman Mirza.

During the hearing on Thursday, no new testimony could be recorded while the suspects’ lawyers completed cross-examinations of witnesses including Assistant Commissioner (AC) Secretariat Aneel Saeed, Noor Elahi and Sher Ali.

The cross-examination of witness Saddar Assistant Commissioner (AC) Dr Sania Saeed remains incomplete.

Until now, 10 out of 11 witnesses have been cross-examined.
