Speaker grills minister over non-preparation of queries

PML-N MPA raises concerns over appointments in University of Agriculture Faisalabad

LAHORE:

Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Elahi grilled Minister for Agriculture Syed Hussain Jahania Ghardezi over his inadequate preparation in responding to the queries put by the lawmakers during the questions-answer session.

The house proceeding started with a lapse of three hours despite the scheduled time of 11:30 am and the house proceedings concluded in just 30 minutes.

Only one question was taken up about the alleged illegal appointments in agriculture university Faisalabad. Ghardezi tried his best to convince Speaker Elahi as well as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) MPA Tahir Pervez, who had put the question, but all in vain.

Speaker Elahi said it seems the minister has not prepared the questions. “Where is the secretary of your department?” Speaker Elahi asked the minister who replied the person in question was abroad.

Ghardezi wanted to respond to the questions but the speaker panned the question.

On point of order Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), MPA Ali Haider Gillani questioned the law and order situation in Multan claiming that the crime rate was increasing day by day and the criminals were still large.
