Nutraceuticals: ‘Functional food may help in reducing disease risks’

Prof. Dr Masood Sadiq Butt says that functional and nutraceutical foods help maximise health and reduce disease risks.

FAISALABAD:

Functional foods and diets rich in nutraceuticals along with regular exercise, stress reduction and maintenance of body weight may help maximise health and reduce disease risks, said Professor Dr Masood Sadiq Butt in the closing session of the one-day seminar on “Functional and Nutraceutical Foods – Let Food be the Medicine” under a Pak-US joint project at the National Institute of Food Science and Technology University of Agriculture Faisalabad on Tuesday.

Dr Butt emphasised on the dietary inclusion of such foods. He highlighted the role of nutraceuticals and functional foods and also stressed on the allied health benefits associated with their consumption.
