Hitting out at those “conspiring” against the former prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday said that the truth related to alleged conspiracies against her father had come out "sooner than expected."

The statement comes in the wake of claims made by former chief justice of Gilgit Appellate Court Rana M Shamim, stating in a report that Nawaz and Maryam were kept in jail till the general elections in 2018 on the orders of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar.

"I'm witnessing the justice of Almighty," Maryam said while talking to media persons gathered outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), where she appeared for a hearing.

"We used to believe that the days of the tyrants are numbered and truth emerges eventually. However, we did not know it would come out so soon," she remarked.

"A testimony in favour of Nawaz Sharif has come from within the judiciary," she added.

Maryam expressed gratitude that the "conspiracy" against Sharif family had been unveiled. She recalled that late judge Arshad Malik had also given a testimony in favour of her father.

"But instead of an investigation into his video, he was dismissed from service," she said and added that Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui also gave a testimony for Nawaz during his service, but he was taken to the Supreme Judicial Council as a punishment.

"And now when a testimony of the former chief justice of Gilgit-Baltistan has come to fore the IHC issued a contempt of court notice to him. What would be the state of a commoner in a country where even a judge is deprived of justice," she remarked.

She noted that the court also issued a contempt of court notice to a journalist for simply conveying the message. On the other hand, Maryam added, Saqib Nisar isn't willing to appear in the court and has distanced himself from the proceedings.

"Nisar took guarantees over the phone that Nawaz and Maryam will not be bailed before elections, and restrained our MPAs from contesting the polls on the party's election symbol."

According to Maryam, the former CJP led the saga on the Panama Papers leaks, committed the biggest injustice of the history, and dragged a prime minister in the courts.

She recalled that the respondents had to appear in more than 200 proceedings related to fake cases. It was the requirement of the law to hear us out during those proceedings, she added.

"The first notice should be sent to Saqib Nisar who made history by killing the justice and sentenced a sitting prime minister."

Maryam further stated that the only way to take the country out of destruction was to hold transparent elections.

"We don't want aid from anyone for an in-house change. The punishment from the Almighty has begun and it is written in their fate now," she concluded.
