US Navy ship conducts drills with Pakistan Navy, visits Karachi Port

Officials hold discussions on professional matters and bilateral interactions

A ship of the US Navy, USS Pearl Harbor, visited Karachi Port and conducted various drills with the Pakistan Navy, stated a press release issued by the services’ public relations department on Saturday.

According to the communique, the ship was received by officials of the US Embassy and Pakistan Navy upon its arrival at the port.

“The visit of US ship included harbour and sea phases,” the press release added. “In harbour phase, table-top discussions on professional matters and bilateral interactions were held. Whereas sea phase included various seamanship and warfare drills.”

The statement further added that USS Pearl Harbor’s visit to Karachi and the subsequent joint naval drills were a testimony of the Pakistan Navy’s resolve to work towards regional peace and further strengthen mutual collaboration between the two navies.

In July, a Pakistan Navy ship participated in the Russian Navy Day Parade, which was held in St Petersburg.

Russian President Vladimir Putin inspected the parade which was attended by about 4,000 sailors, more than 50 ships, boats and submarines, as well as 48 naval aviation airplanes and helicopters.

“Pakistan Navy ship ZULFIQUAR participated in Russia Navy Day Parade. Russian President inspected the parade. The event was attended by delegates from 21 countries,” said Pakistan Navy in a tweet from its official handle.
