Veteran actor died after prolonged illness

Veteran actor Sohail Asghar passed away in Lahore today. Asghar had been battling health issues for some time now, having had gastric surgery recently as well. The actor had been admitted to a Lahore hospital for a week now, passing away at 11:30 AM today. According to his family, his funeral will take place on Sunday in the Bahria Town locality of Lahore. 

Born and raised in the same city, Asghar started off his career in the showbiz industry as an RJ for Radio Pakistan, where he worked for a decade from 1978 to 1988, following which he started acting in theatre productions. He was known for his roles in TV serials such as Laag, Piyas, Chand Girhan, Khuda ki Basti and Kajal Ghar. Asghar made his film debut in 2003 with Murad

Actor Mohib Mirza took to Twitter to remember the late actor, writing, “Saddened by your demise. Worked in so many projects with you and you taught me so much. Farewell, my teacher and rest in peace.”

Faysal Quraishi also tweeted out a picture of Asghar, writing, “Suhail bhai is no more.” Actor Ahsan Khan took to his Instagram story to share, “The iconic Suhail Asghar. RIP. Allah Hafiz.” 

In May 2020, the actor took to social media to request fans and followers for prayers. Asghar shared a picture of himself from the hospital, revealing that he would be undergoing stomach surgery. "Fans, friends and family, Allah Almighty is with me always. I strongly believe in miracles. I believe in the power of love and prayers," he wrote on Facebook.
