As many earlier predicted, Hollywood is now producing a film about the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. As reported by Deadline, actors Tom Hardy and Channing Tatum are going to be leading this ironic take titled Triple Frontier, directed by George Nolfi of Adjustment Bureau fame.
Earlier in August, Taliban forces took control of Afghanistan as the US suddenly withdrew its military troops from the country. The situation resulted in ultimate chaos and a lot of Afghan lives were endangered. The storyline of the Tatum and Hardy starrer film is reportedly based on true events following the US withdrawal and Taliban control.
It smells of freshly whitewashed propaganda, if you ask us, and follows three former Special Forces team members who jump back into the fray alongside their Afghan counterparts, to rescue families and allies left behind amid the rapid fall of Afghanistan to the Taliban.
However, thanks to the era of digital media, and due updates from social media handles of Afghan citizens, the world knows some of the ground realities that followed the withdrawal. July Dales, Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy will be producing this film along with the writer of Ocean’s Twelve, George Nolfi. The production of the film will begin after the two Hollywood stars finish their ongoing projects.
Following Hardy’s successful offering, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, he will next be seen in Gareth Evan’s Netflix thriller Havoc. Moreover, Tatum is currently working on The Lost City with the Oscar winner Sandra Bullock. He will also appear in the comedy film Dog, which he is co-directing alongside Reid Carolin.
