Tarin urges Balochistan, Sindh to bring down flour prices
Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin on Wednesday issued instructions to reduce flour prices in Sindh and Balochistan and urged the chief secretaries of the provinces to start the daily release of wheat for stabilising prices.
Chairing a meeting of the National Price Monitoring Committee (NPMC), Tarin said that while inflation had increased by 0.67% on weekly basis, prices of three commodities registered a decline and prices of 20 commodities remained stable.
He asked the chief secretaries of Sindh and Balochistan to increase the daily releases of wheat to improve the supply situation in the markets.

The adviser also commended the government of Punjab and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration for the daily release of wheat at the government’s specified price which has eased pressure on prices of wheat flour.
“In Punjab and the federal capital, a 20 kg bag of flour is being sold at the price of Rs1,100,” he told the committee members.
He informed the committee that the federal government is taking wide-ranging measures to manage managing supply and demand chains and to keep the prices of daily commodities under control.
