FAISALABAD:

A woman was reportedly raped at gunpoint, while a minor girl thwarted an attempted assault by making noise.

Police arrested one suspect and launched a hunt for the other. A complainant told police that his wife and daughter were alone at home when the suspect Sajid, resident of an area near Jaranwala Road, entered the house and sexually assaulted the woman at gunpoint.

He told police that a few days back, the suspect Sajid had repaired the mobile phone of his wife and had got her number. The complainant said the suspect had been harassing his wife with continuous phone calls.

Police registered a case against the suspect under Section 370 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and started a search for him.

Meanwhile, a minor girl foiled a rape attempt by shouting for help. According to a police complaint, 30-year-old Fazalul Haq allegedly took the eight-year-old to a garden, where he tried to rape her.

As the girl made noise, the locals captured the suspect and handed him over to police.

Incidents, where minor children and woman are sexually assaulted, are not uncommon in the province.

On October 27, another woman was sexually abused.

The complainant told the police that the suspects Ghulam Mustafa and Muhammad Faisal kidnapped her, took her to an unknown location and raped her.

She said that the suspects had tricked her by promising to get her a job.
