Six people, including a woman, were killed in separate accidents involving tractor-trolleys and buses on Friday.
Police handed over the bodies to the families after completing legal formalities and registered cases against the drivers responsible for the accidents.
Muhammad Hanif, 52, son of Abdul Rashid, died on the spot when a tractor-trolley loaded with bricks hit him while he was crossing a road.
In another incident, 26-year-old Jahangir, son of Khushi Muhammad, was killed in a collision involving a tractor-trolley near in 249RB area near Samundri Road.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Bilal, was crushed under a trolley loaded with mud after he fell on a road as a result of a collision between two rickshaws on Samundri Road in D-Type Colony. He was severely injured and rushed to a hospital after first aid, where he died during treatment.
Poonam Bibi, 22, daughter of Naveed Ahmad, was crushed to death under the tyres of a bus after she fell from a motorcycle while travelling with her father.
Ghulam Qadir, son of Muhammad Azeem, 68, was killed when his motorcycle collided with a tractor-trolley near Haider Garden on Jaranwala Road. Rafiq, 55, who was riding with him, was injured. He was shifted to a hospital after initial medical treatment on the spot.
A young man who was going to Toba Tek Singh from Faisalabad with his mother died after falling down from then gate of a bus near Adda Kotan. He was crushed under the tyres of the vehicle. All the bodies were handed over to the heirs.
Meanwhile, over 1,100 people were injured in 1,091 road traffic crashes (RTCs) in all 36 districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. Of them, 673 people were seriously injured, who were shifted to different hospitals, whereas 497 were treated at the sites for minor injuries. As many as 63 of the accidents involved motorbikes. Official data showed that 506 adult drivers, 47 underage drivers, 132 pedestrians and 540 passengers were among the victims of the road traffic crashes.
The statistics showed that 261 road accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 255 people, followed by 83 road crashes in Faisalabad with 85 victims and 77 RTCs with 74 victims in Multan.
The dead and injured included958 males and 220 females, while 215 of them were under 18 years of age, 562 between 18 and 40 years old and 401 above 40 years of age.
According to the data, 969 motorbikes, 112 auto-rickshaws, 105 cars, 28 vans, 10 buses, 31 trucks and 145 other types of vehicles and carts were involved in the traffic accidents.
