Inquiry launched against refugee commissionerate

NAB K-P also demanded details of vehicles purchased or donated by UNHCR since 2017

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched an inquiry against officials of the Commissionerate of the Afghan Refugees (CAR) over alleged illegal appointments and embezzlements in funds.

According to details, NAB K-P sent a letter to the Commissionerate of Afghan Refugees and demanded documents relevant to the inquiry.

A copy available with The Express Tribune of the letter, read the Commissionerate should provide certified copies to the investigation team.

The documents, sought by NAB K-P, should carry details since 2017 including the budget book duly approved by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) as well as the CAR.

“Information about all the bank accounts maintained by your department along with bank statements since 2017 should also be shared,” reads the latter sent on October 26.

NAB K-P has also demanded details of the vehicles purchased or donated by the UNHCR since 2017, all employees appointed against the posts of ‘Refugees Village Administrator’ and their current status besides details of the land acquired on lease for setting up refugee camps across K-P and other relevant documents.
