Grid station set up in Jhimpir wind corridor

There is a need to enhance interaction and dialogue between public and private sectors to promote clean power generation in the country, said Sindh Governor Imran Ismail.
Inaugurating the 220kV grid station Jhimpir-I on Wednesday, the governor said that wind energy was a clean, environment-friendly and cheaper alternative to oil-fired power production.
“Participation of private sector in this field will help increase share of renewable energy in the total energy mix,” he added.
The United States government, through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), supported the project by laying transmission lines and constructing a grid station in the Jhimpir wind corridor of Thatta district in Sindh.
“The investment will add 780 megawatts of clean energy generated by wind power plants to the national grid,” said a statement.
