One person was killed and an eight-year-old child was injured in separate firing incidents in the city.
Sources said, a guard was shot dead by armed men near Afghan Basti, Gulshan-e-Maymar area. The body of the deceased was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was identified as Jahangir Khan, 65, son of Batur Khan. The victim hailed from Afghanistan. He was working as a watchman.
At about 3.25am on Tuesday, while he was on duty, unknown assailants opened fire at him. He was shot three times in the chest, abdomen and arm. He died on the spot. Victim's son told the police that he had no enmity with anyone. The police are investigating.
Meanwhile, an eight-year-old child, Usman son of Noor Nabi Shah was injured by a stray bullet near Ayesha Masjid, Jamali Goth area of Site Super Highway and was also shifted to the ASH.
Drug traffickers nabbed
The Orangi Town police arrested two members of a gang of drug traffickers and recovered contraband from their possession.
Orangi Town SHO, Inspector Azam Gopang, leading a police party, conducted a raid in MPR Colony and arrested Ayaz and Shaukat and recovered more than 12 kg of hashish, cash and other items from their possession.

During interrogation the suspects disclosed that they used to supply narcotics, sent to them in Karachi by Yaqub Afridi alias Khan Ji, from Peshawar.
Afridi's suppliers are scattered in different parts of Karachi who supply drugs to designated drug dealers," the suspects revealed during the interrogation.
Police were conducting raids to nab other drug dealers and their suppliers on the information of arrested suspects. The suspects were arrested in past as well and jailed in drug trafficking cases.
Alleged robber shot dead
An iron scrap trader named Anees, shot a robber, Shah Nawaz, dead with his licenced pistol when the outlaw, along with his two accomplices barged into his house in the wee hours of Tuesday, within the limits of Pak Colony Police Station. SHO Fida Muhammad told The Express Tribune that one of the three robbers died on the spot while his accomplices fled from the scene. The SHO said that the suspect was a drug addict and lived in the same area.
