All set for compilation of new computerised voters’ lists

Door-to-door voter verification campaign will be launched next week

RAWALPINDI:

The Rawalpindi District Election Commissioner has completed preparations for launching a door-to-door campaign for computerised voters’ lists from November 7 in the Rawalpindi division.

The campaign will be launched in the four districts of Rawalpindi Division consisting of Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal.

According to sources, 1085 display centres have also been set up for displaying the voters’ lists.

The district election commission has formed regular teams for the campaign to be run from November 7 to December 6. Officers in charge of these teams have also been appointed, and special cells have been set up in the offices of district election commissioners.

According to the sources, teams will go door-to-door in all four districts to remove the names of deceased voters and add new voters who have reached the age of 18.

Votes will also be transferred to the new home addresses of voters. Voters who have gone abroad for jobs or have settled permanently will be added to the overseas voters’ list.

The entry of any new data generated during the campaign will be completed from December 7 to January 5, 2022. Upon completion of this entry, new voters’ lists will be printed with the help of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) from January 6 to January 25, 2022.

New computerized voters’ lists will be displayed in centres and voters’ objections will be taken into consideration from January 26 to February 24. The votes challenged will be corrected at the requests of the citizens, while registration of new votes, incorrect registration of votes and correction of names in the voter list will be done from March 24 to April 12 next year. The final computerised voters’ lists of the Rawalpindi division will be displayed on April 13, 2022.

The training of assistant returning officers (AROs) has also been started after the deployment of officers and staff for preparation and verification of new voters’ lists. The schedule has been fixed for all the districts across Pakistan. It has been forwarded by the Office of the Chief Election Commissioner to the District Election Commissioners of all the districts, according to which preparations for the new voters’ lists verification campaign have been completed across the country.

According to the sources, teachers have also been hired for the campaign, for which they will receive special remuneration. It has also been decided to hold new local body elections according to this new computerised voters’ lists.
