Closure causes Rs2 million loss to metro bus service
The metro bus service has faced a whopping loss of more than Rs200 million under operational cost and revenue due to the closure for over a week in anticipation of a protest by a banned outfit.
Thousands of commuters, including office workers, students, traders, and government officials faced extreme difficulties because of the closure of the service which runs between the twin cities. Sources in the Punjab Mass Bus Transit Authority (PMA) said that the metro bus service remained suspended for seven days at different intervals during the last 10 days.
According to the sources, around 0.1 million passengers use the metro bus running between Rawalpindi and Islamabad daily.
The PMA had closed down the metro bus service for seven days.
