#BanIPL trends on Indian Twitter following India's defeat against New Zealand
Twitteratis all over the world had a field day following India's embarrassing defeat against New Zealand in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
India had already lost the first match of the T20 World Cup against nemesis Pakistan, however, losing at the hands of New Zealand made fans in India take their sardonicism on Twitter and Pakistanis, of course, jumped on the bandwagon.
Soon after New Zealand won by eight wickets, memes about the men in blue started flooding Twitter with #BanIPL trending in the neighbouring country. While Indians rued the loss, Twitteratis joked about the match being 'fixed'.
Pakistani netizens also teased their neighbours on Twitter by mocking the Bollywood trope of India winning matches against every team that faces them.
Some Indian fans also questioned Virat Kohli's credibility as the captain.
While the internet is replete with memes against the men in blue, many commentators and cricketers are discussing the IPL ban, drawing clear distinctions between playing for IPL and playing for the country.
Team India will now face Afghanistan, Namibia, and Scotland in their remaining group fixtures.
