Govt has no right to govern: PDM chief
Lambasting the incumbent government for killing TLP protestors, JUI-F chief and Pakistan Democratic Movement leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said the PTI-led government “has no right to govern.”
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, PDM chief Fazlur Rehman said TLP, a proscribed organisation, also had a democratic and legal right to stage protests.
He added that TLP activists and supporters were tortured in Lahore and deprived of their human rights.
“The protesters have come out on the streets with their demands,” he said, questioning why a protest against deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif was lawful but unlawful against incumbent PM Imran Khan.
Fazl condemned the baton charge on the protestors, terming it a ‘cruel tactic’ of the government.
He demanded that matters should be resolved amicably rather than through force.
The PDM head also questioned as to how a government which had stemmed from rigged elections – an allegation that has not been proven – was entitled to conduct local body polls.
Leveling more allegations, Fazl said the election commission itself is admitting that the voter lists were suspicious and a process to verify the voters has commenced.
