KMC has digitised property records in 60 days: Wahab

The construction of the road will facilitate transportation to oil tankers and the Zulfiqarabad terminal

KARACHI:

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) under the incumbent administration digitised its land records in only 60 days.

“We have digitised the data of KMC’s properties in just 60 days. All details can be viewed on KMC’s website with a single click,” the KMC Administrator and Sindh Government Spokesperson Barrister Murtaza Wahab said.

He was talking to the media after the inauguration of the highway connecting Zulfiqarabad Oil Terminal and the National Highway on Tuesday.

Wahab said that under his administration, the corporation will charge market-based rates for its real estate including shops and markets in various areas of the city.

The KMC properties were leased out in the past on nominal rates, he said adding that many people had sublet the KMC shops for millions of rupees while paying only a few hundred rupees to the corporation.

“A mafia is trying to stop me from working but I will continue to work for the development of the city without any fear,” Wahab said.

It was informed during the briefing that the new road from National Highway to Zulfiqarabad Oil Terminal has been constructed at a cost of Rs.30 million. The road is 1.25 km long and has been completed in a short span of two months.

The construction of the road will facilitate transportation to oil tankers and the Zulfiqarabad terminal.
