Two cops get death penalty in Intezar murder case

Five other personnel of ACLC handed life sentence for the murder in Khyban-e-Ittehad

A special anti-terrorism court has sentenced Bilal Rashid and Danial to death in a case of murder of a youth, Intezar, by Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) personnel on the Khyaban-e-Ittehad ion Defence Housing Authority in 2018.

Intizar Ahmed was shot dead on January 13, 2018, on Khayaban-e-Ittehad after officials and personnel of the ACLC resorted to indiscriminate fire on a white Corolla, killing the victim on the spot.

Although the police had initially claimed that the boy was killed in an act of targeted killing by at least two armed assailants riding a motorcycle, it was later revealed that the ACLC officials and personnel were behind the brutal killing.

The court sentenced five accused to life imprisonment and acquitted one accused. A special court at the Anti-Terrorism Complex in Karachi Central Jail has handed down a verdict in the murder case of Intizar by police personnel in Defence.

The court sentenced Bilal Rashid and Danial to death and sentenced Tariq Rahim, Tariq Mahmood, Shahid Usman, Azhar Ahsan, Fawad Khan to life imprisonment and fine of Rs200,000.

The court acquitted Ghulam Hussain for lack of evidence. According to the prosecution, eight policemen were named in the case. The accused Danial and Bilal are also bodyguards of SSP ACLC. Intezar Ahmed was shot dead by ACL personnel in Defence on January 13, 2018 and the police personnel fled after killing the youth. A case has been registered against the accused in Darakhshan police station.
