LAHORE:

Senior special judge Anti-Corruption Court on Friday dismissed pre-arrest bail of a man accused of being allegedly involved in minting money from people after pretending himself as the security in-charge of the Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar.

Petitioner Shabir Hussain, in his petition, had contended that he has nothing to do with this case, adding he has been implicated in a forged case merely to humiliate and embarrass him.Petitioner’s counsel implored the court that his client was innocent and he wanted to appear before the relevant police station to join the investigation but he fears he would be arrested.

He submitted that his client was implicated in a forged case and argued that the government should focus on the problems which the masses were facing at large rather than spending time on such irrelevant issues. He requested the court the bail of the accused be accepted.

The law officer opposed the bail contending that the accused had committed a serious offence and minted money from the poor masses pretending himself as the security in-charge of the Punjab CM.

He argued that the suspect offered different jobs to the people and promised them to get adjusted on some key posts. The accused took Rs400,000 from the complainant of this FIR and promised to get him a job.

He argued that the suspect was running a gang involved in extorting money from people by trapping them. He requested the court that the bail of the defendant be dismissed. After hearing arguments, the judge dismissed the bail of the accused. Incidents involving fake police or security officers were not uncommon in the province.

In April, police were on the lookout for a man reportedly involved in impersonating the Lahore CCPO on phone for exerting influence in various matters, a week after apprehending a suspect who triggered an hours-long search operation around Data Darbar by a hoax phone call.
